This summer annual has small, pink flowers and prefers to grow in wet, muddy conditions. Early in the season, it will be an upright or sprawling plant with narrow, opposite leaves that clasp around the slender plant's soft, slender stem. In summer and early fall, the entire plant blazes red and can be quite eye-catching.
