Prairie milkweed, or Sullivant's milkweed, is similar to common milkweed. It differs by being shorter, less aggressive, and has larger individual flowers but fewer per flower cluster. Another key difference is the strongly upswept leaves that have distinctive reddish midveins.
A wide variety of pollinators, including hummingbirds, will seek nectar from the plant.
