Cream-colored flowers are followed by showy seed clusters in fall. False boneset attracts numerous pollinators, including bees, butterflies, skippers, and moths. The bitter taste of the plant usually keeps deer and rabbits from eating it. This is a well-behaved plant that grows in dry sites with poor soil. It has a deep tap root that can grow over ten feet.
