Star tickseed blooms over a longer period than most of our native wildflowers, and you may see its impressive yellow flowers between May and September. It is often found growing in poor, rocky soil but will easily adapt to other well-drained soil types. Better growing conditions may overstimulate the plant and cause it to sprawl or flop over. However, it responds well to heavy trimming and will quickly recover with a bushier and more upright habit.
