Maximilian sunflower is a pollinator favorite, attracting a variety of bees, butterflies, beetles, and other valuable insects. Birds, squirrels, and other animals eat the seeds. The bright yellow flowers will bloom through much of August and September. Like many other sunflowers, it can form colonies from its root system, especially in rich, moist soil. It can become a tall plant more suited to natural areas rather than small, formal flowerbeds where it will likely need staking.
