This long bloomer provides quality bird seed from Aug to Nov. Use with summer flowers that are purple. Another common name for this oxeye sunflower is "false sunflower" because both the ray flowers (the long yellow petals) and disk flowers (the 'eye' in the center of the petals) are fertile and can make seed. True sunflowers in the genus Helianthus only have fertile disk flowers.
