Broadleaf waterleaf spreads by rhizomes in shady areas with rich, moist soil. The leaves resemble the leaves of maples and, when young, have distinct, silvery blotches. If kept moist during dry summer months, the foliage will persist through fall. The flowers are usually hidden below the foliage, but bees know where to find them and will visit often.
