Small, edible tubers and bright, lemon-yellow flowers are the inspiration for the common name. Potato dandelion is a low-maintenance perennial suitable for rock gardens, borders, path edges, and containers. It can spread by seed and rhizome but is not an aggressive plant. Two-flowered Cynthia, Krigia biflora, is closely related and similar in appearance but doesn't spread by rhizome and has branching flower stalks.
