This is a small vine with very attractive foliage, unique yellow flowers and dark purple, marble-sized fruits. The fruits are edible, though small, and can be used as ink. It isn't terribly aggressive, but it will spread by underground runners, especially in rich, moist soil.
Yellow passion flower is a host plant for several butterflies such as the gulf fritillary. It is also the only pollen source for the uncommon passionflower bee. Wildflife will eat the fruit; deer tend to leave this plant alone.
