Prairie beardtongue may not persist long in typical flower beds, but it works well when combined with purple beardtongue and requires a similar well-drained, sunny location. So, if you have a successful purple beardtongue planting, prairie beardtongue should also perform well. It is a beautiful plant with snowy white wands of flowers. Ripening seed pods are purplish and sit atop the stem that has slowly blushed to a bright red.
