Brand's phacelia is an annual wildflower that adds a soft purple hue to the spring landscape. The flowers have a whitish center and light purple to purplish-blue margins. It's a wonderful plant for early bees and butterflies. Before the flowers have opened, the buds are arranged in a coiled cluster that resembles a scorpion's tail. This resemblence gives the plant another common name: scorpionweed.
