Host plant for giant swallowtail larvae. An assortment of other insects, such as wasps, flies, bees, and ants, will find nectar in the greenish white flowers. An attractive small tree with shiny leaves and round, wafer shaped seeds. Wafer ash is also known as "hop tree" because it has been used as a substitute for hops to brew beer.
