Light blue flowers rise above the grass-like foliage of this small member of the iris family. Use in dry, sunny beds with short groundcovers, such as pussytoes (Antennaria spp.), and other small plants. In Missouri, it is fairly common and grows in prairies, glades, upland forests, and in thin soils where competition from other plants is minimal. Mature plants can be divided.
