Frost aster attracts an incredible number of insects during its prolonged blooming period from August through November. The white flowers are vanilla-scented. It germinates easily from seed and often shows up on its own along roadsides and open, disturbed areas where it competes with exotic weed species. This is a tough plant that can grow in sunny, dry conditions and tolerates brief periods of wet conditions.
