As the tallest coreopsis we have in Missouri, Tall Coreopsis may not be the best choice for the front of a formal flower bed.  But in large plantings, a colony of tall coreopsis is quite a sight. Plants in dry soils will likely be shorter, but tall coreopsis can grow in fairly moist, rich soil where it will reach its full stature. It is a good wildlife plant, feeding many pollinating insects and birds. Unlike most coreopsis species, tall coreopsis has reddish-purple disc florets instead of yellow.
