Seed structures remain well into fall and make this cool-season grass quite stunning. Use in partly shaded locations. It comes up fairly easily from seed, but is a conservative species in flower beds. The caterpillars of pearly eye butterflies use bottlebrush grass and other grasses as a food plant.
