Wild Strawberry is an easy-to-grow, colony-forming ground cover for sun or partial shade. The berry is edible and sweet and has very high ecological value for wildlife. Numerous bees and butterflies visit the flowers. Mammals and birds feed on the fruit and foliage. It is less susceptible to foliar disease than our cultivated strawberries which are hybrids of our native strawberry (for flavor) crossed with a South American species (for size).
