Cylindrical Blazing Star will add a modest splash of pinkish purple color to sunny, well-drained rock gardens. In other parts of the U.S., it is known as Barrelhead Gayfeather. This short blazing star may grow up to two feet tall. It is very drought tolerant, and if it is planted in rich fertile soil, it could flop over or be overtaken by larger plants. Cylindrical blazing star will attract a number of bees, butterflies, and the occasional hummingbird.
