False aloe is a unique plant with tall, wand-like flower stems emerging from a mound of low-growing basal foliage. The flowers are quite aromatic with a sweet, clove-like aroma. Night-flying sphinx moths are the primary pollinators, but hummingbirds and bumblebees also visit.

Uses:  Container gardens, drought tolerant
Bloom time:  June - July

Height:  6 to 10 inches (foliage); 36 to 60 inches (flowering stem)
Space:  16 to 20 inches

Sun:  Full sun to medium shade
Moisture:  Dry to average

Seed: We stratify the seed at least 30 days and have very good results. The one time we sowed seed in June without stratification also yielded successful germination.
