This interesting aquatic plant is a good choice for container gardens that don't get a lot of sun. In ponds, it is not aggressive and will grow in shallow water about 6 inches deep. Arrow arum consists of glossy, green, arrowhead-shaped leaves atop gently arching stalks. The roots are poisonous until they have been cooked properly but were a staple vegetable for some native American tribes.
