In Missouri, this robust sedge is typically found in the southeast corner of the state. It grows in swampy areas, shallow water, ditches, and along spring branches. We've had a few plants growing around our pond for many years. The large seed clusters are attractive and feed waterfowl and wetland birds, and the plant itself can provide cover and nesting habitat.
