The white, drooping flowers of trout lily are a sure sign of spring. This plant is often found growing in large colonies with oblong, mottled leaves. Mature plants will have two leaves and a single flower, while juvenile plants don't flower and have a single leaf. Also known as dogtooth violet because of the size and shape of the corm. This is an important early source of pollen and nectar for native bees.
