This plant is archetypal of our 1-Star plant rating. The two big problems with putting this plant in a formal flower bed (which is what our rating system/professional opinion measures) are its size and its ability to spread. Wild Goldenglow can reach heights of 7 feet or more. It is rhizomatous and is quite capable of crowding out smaller plants.
However, if you want to attract birds and pollinators, Wild Goldenglow will get the job done. Insects love this plant--bees, butterflies, wasps, flies, sawflies, beetles, aphids, and others are attracted by pollen and nectar, and in some instances their larvae feed on the plant itself. Birds in turn will hang out to feed on all the bugs.
